Reserve Unit

Monthly Training
The Wayzata Police Department’s Police Reserve Unit is made up of Reserve Officers who volunteer their time in a supporting role to the sworn officers in the department. Reserves train monthly in areas such as use of force, Taser, handcuffing, traffic control, parking enforcement, and more.

Duties & Activities
Reserve Officers in Wayzata are involved in many different activities. Some of their details include:
  • Bicycle patrol
  • Parking enforcement
  • Prisoner transport
  • Security for special events
  • Surveillance
  • Traffic control
Join the Team
The unit is under the direction of Officer Bill Mathews. If you are 18 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, and have no criminal record, you may qualify to join the unit. Contact Officer Mathews by calling 952-404-5341 for more information.
