Bushaway Road Trail

Many residents may wonder why the new trail along Bushaway Road has not been plowed this year. The primary reason is that Hennepin County is not, technically, finished with their road improvements and have not officially turned maintenance responsibility over to the City of Wayzata. That being said, the City has spoken to Hennepin County and will begin winter maintenance on the trail between Wayzata Blvd. and McGinty Road/Eastman Lane. The trail south of McGinty Road/Eastman Lane will not be maintained, this season, as the cable railing along the causeway is not yet complete, and was recently damaged. The entire trail will be maintained during the winters, beginning next year. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation.

Residents must bring a driver’s license and license plate numbers to City Hall to obtain an annual permit. For more information about Beach Parking & Compost Site Permits, contact City Hall at 952-404-5300.

Fire

The Wayzata Fire Department had 17 total calls for service in the month of December and 295 calls for service for the year 2016.

Police

The icy roads contributed to five crashes in 90 minutes in Wayzata on Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the report of an unconscious female at her residence.  Life saving efforts were unsuccessful and the 58 year-old Wayzata woman was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The case is under investigation.

Initial interviews were conducted for the part-time Records Clerk position.  Second interviews will take place next week.

Public Works

Mill Street Parking Structure

Adolfson & Peterson (A&P) and their subcontractors continue work on the Mill Street Parking Structure project.  Veit and A&P have finalized soil corrections along the south edge of the proposed ramp and continue the installation of footings and columns along the south edge of the ramp.  Over the holidays, the contractor delivered a significant amount of fill material to create a level working area for the work on the proposed retaining wall.  This retaining wall installation is anticipated to begin late this week and continue through February.  Concrete trucks will be making deliveries regularly as footing and retaining wall construction continues.
