slip

Administration

The City received 135 boat slip lottery applications for the one (1) vacant boat slip for the 2017 season.  The boat slip lottery drawing will be held on the 1st Tuesday in February.  We will contact the one (1) lucky winner that day.

Planning

The Planning Commission has a meeting on Wednesday, January 18. The meeting includes a training workshop at 5:30 p.m. The regular meeting agenda includes review of rezoning and PUD concept plans for Wayzata Blu project at 259, 269, and 275 Lake St E and 339 Barry Ave.

Police

A short vehicle pursuit Monday led to the arrest of a 32 year-old Blaine man.  He was subsequently charged with Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle.

Staff met this week with Wayzata Chamber representatives in preparation for this year’s Chilly Open.

The snowfalls in the morning hours on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week led to NO reported accidents in Wayzata or Long Lake.  This is in contrast with the light snow that fell last Thursday morning in which five crashes were reported.

Chief Risvold continues to attend meetings of the Highway 12 Safety Coalition. Since the construction of the center barrier wall on the Highway 12 bypass in the fall, there have been no injury accidents on the corridor.

Public Works

Mill Street Parking Structure

Adolfson & Peterson (A&P) and their subcontractors continue work on the Mill Street Parking Structure project.  The installation of the retaining wall, along the east and north side of the proposed ramp, began last week.  The contractor is currently “drilling and dropping” large steel posts which provide the structure of the wall.  Next week, they will begin installing a form work between these posts, which will support both tie-backs and the concrete fascia.  As this form work is installed, the contractor will begin excavating the hillside away from the wall.  This work is anticipated to continue through February.  Because of the space required to perform this work (equipment, materials, and soil), A&P will be stopping the installation of footings and columns along the south edge of the ramp, next week.

Bushaway Road Trail
Many residents may wonder why the new trail along Bushaway Road has not been plowed this year.  The primary reason is that Hennepin County is not, technically, finished with their road improvements and have not officially turned maintenance responsibility over to the City of Wayzata.  That being said, the City has spoken to Hennepin County and will begin winter maintenance on the trail between Wayzata Blvd. and McGinty Road/Eastman Lane.  The trail south of McGinty Road/Eastman Lane will not be maintained, this season, as the cable railing along the causeway is not yet complete, and was recently damaged.  The entire trail will be maintained during the winters, beginning next year.  We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation.
