Public Works

Mill Street Parking Structure

Adolfson & Peterson (A&P) and their subcontractors continue work on the Mill Street Parking Structure project. The installation of the retaining wall, along the east and north side of the ramp continues. The contractor also continues the process of removing the soil, working platform. The installation of formwork between these posts, which supports both tie-backs and the concrete fascia is progressing. As this formwork is installed, the contractor will begin excavating the hillside away from the wall. This work is anticipated to continue through February. Because of the space required to perform this work (equipment, materials, and soil), A&P will be stopping the installation of footings and columns along the south edge of the ramp, until mid-February.

Installation of the wood lagging and tiebacks along the north side of the site (2-8-17).

Klapprich Skating Rink

Due to the forecasted warmer temperatures and rain, the Klapprich Park skating rink will be closed until further notice, beginning Saturday, February 11, 2017. The Public Works Department will continue to monitor the weather to determine when and if the rink can be reopened.

The Public Works Department has identified several areas around town where selective tree trimming is necessary to prevent damage to vehicles, City snow removal equipment, etc.  Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to start next week.  The following areas have been identified as needing trimming work: West Lake Street, 144 Peavey Lane, Glenbrook, Hillside Drive, Highcroft Road, 532 Harrington, Grove Lane Court, Lake Street – TCF, Wayzata Beach, Walker Ave. N., Hollybrook Rd (along fence), Hill Rd & Crosby (sight line), Indian Mound, Broadway Avenue (Wayzata Blvd & Lake St.), and Ferndale Road W.

2017 Pond Maintenance Project – Glenbrook Ponding Area

On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, the Wayzata City Council awarded a contract to Meyer Contracting, Inc. to perform the City’s 2017 Glenbrook Pond Maintenance project.  The project proposes to remove accumulated sediment from the storm water basins, known locally as the Glenbrook Ponds.  The ponds were originally constructed in 1993-94 by the City of Wayzata and the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) and are located between Wayzata Blvd and Highway 12.  The project is proposed to begin in late-February, with a final completion date in May.  A map highlighting the ponding area to be maintained can be found below.
