Wayzata's Sunday Music in the Park

Blue Groove, an award-winning contemporary bluegrass band from Minneapolis, will perform on August 6 at the third Sunday Music in the Park program scheduled for Klapprich Park, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., sponsored by the Wayzata Parks and Trails Board. On August 13, the final concert for the summer season will feature Ars Nova Brass Quintet, musicians from the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra who will play a wide range of music, including pop, classical, and Dixie.
Bring your own chairs or blankets to set up on the beautiful, shady hillside along the southeast corner of Klapprich Park, near the intersection of Wayzata Blvd. and Minnetonka Ave.

Wayzata Farmers Market

Next week is National Farmers Market Week! Support your local Wayzata Farmers Market on Thursday from 1:30-5:30p.m. in the municipal parking lot on Lake Street.

The FREE Corn Roast has been rescheduled to August 10 due to the rain on August 3. Stop by the market and get a free cob of corn to eat while you shop the market.

Also on August 10, the Wayzata Fire Department will be at the market. Stop by to pick up information about joining the fire department. Organix Solutions will be back at the market and can answer your questions about organics at your home or business.

August is peak season for many fresh fruits and vegetables. The market has something for everyone from local lamb meat, fresh roasted coffee beans, jams, fresh popped kettle corn, homemade soaps and lotions, to unique jewelry by local artists, and more.

Night to Unite

Thanks to everyone for coming out Tuesday night to your neighborhood block party for Night to Unite!
On one of the stops, Chief Risvold delivered a surprise proclamation to Jan Allen (photo below) from the Mayor and Wayzata City Council. She has been a block captain for over 30 years and this year was her last time as block captain. Thank you Jan Allen for your service to the City of Wayzata!

Photography Contest Entries Now Accepted Thru September 17

Do you have any photos taken around Wayzata? If so, we are looking for your photos! You don't have to be a professional photographer--we are looking for everyday photos around Wayzata.

  1. Candid Community Moments (people and activities around Wayzata)
  2. City Snapshots (streetscapes, businesses, or any location around the city)
  3. View from Up High (fire up the drone camera...we are looking for aerial shots to get a different perspective from up high of Wayzata)
  4. Wild Wayzata (wildlife, nature and animals)
The Picture Wayzata Photo Contest will be accepting entries at After the contest closes for entries, photos from all four categories will be complied into four albums for voting on by the public on the City's Facebook page to determine the winner of each category!

Submit your photos at then tell your friends to vote for your photo on Facebook! First place winner of each of the four categories will win a gift card to the Wayzata Bar & Grill (and of course bragging rights).

The City of Wayzata is now offering a new email subscription list for notifications related to city ordinance changes. This list will provide information about proposed ordinance changes, similar to public notices that are posted in the newspaper.

Mill Street Parking Structure

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 10, 2017. 

2017 Street Improvement project

The project includes the reconstruction of Glenbrook Road, with new concrete curb and gutter, and the resurfacing of Hillside Drive and Huntington Avenue (next to the Edina Realty building).  Paving has been completed on Huntington Avenue (next to the Edina Realty building).  Curb installation began this week on Glenbrook Road.  The first layer of pavement will be placed next week.  Work on Hillside Drive will begin the week of August 14.

Wayzata Middle School Telecommunication Monopole

The new telecommunications tower was delivered on Monday, June 24.  Unfortunately, due to galvanizing issues, it was not erected.  This work is now scheduled for August 7th.

County Road 112 Reconstruction – Long Lake

Hennepin County, along with their contractor, Eureka Construction, continue work on the reconstruction of County Road 112 (Old Highway 12) through Long Lake.  This construction area extends from Willow Drive to Wolf Pointe Trail.

2017 Pond Maintenance Project – Glenbrook Ponding Area

The project proposes to remove accumulated sediment from the storm water basins, known locally as the Glenbrook Ponds. This project was delayed due to early melting in February and water conditions in the pond, currently are not amenable to this type of work.  This work has been rescheduled until this coming winter.
