Mill Street Parking Ramp

On Thursday, Mayor Willcox, the Wayzata City Council, City Staff, and project consultants from HGA, Tegra and Adolf & Peterson gathered for the grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony. The new public parking facility, including on-street parking on Mill Street, has 377 parking stalls and 10 motorcycle parking stalls.  The previous at-grade parking lot had 173 parking stalls.

Wayzata's Sunday Music in the Park

On Sunday, August 13, the final concert for the summer season in Klapprich Park, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., will feature Ars Nova Brass Quintet, musicians from the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra who will play a wide range of music, including pop, classical, and Dixie. Bring your own chairs or blankets to set up on the beautiful, shady hillside along the southeast corner of Klapprich Park, near the intersection of Wayzata Blvd. and Minnetonka Ave.


Celebrating 35 Years

The Wayzata Historical Society will be celebrating their 35th Anniversary with steamboat tours and a pig roast at the Depot between 5-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16.
It is a ticketed event. Tickets can be purchased two ways: online at or at the Depot on weekends 12-4 p.m. with cash or check.
The pig roast runs from 5-8 p.m. There are two Minnehaha Boat tours at 5 and 7 p.m. The boat tours will be narrated with special points of interest. Capacity is limited, so buy your tickets today!

The Picture Wayzata Photo Contest will be accepting entries at After the contest closes for entries, photos from all four categories will be complied into four albums for voting on by the public on the City's Facebook page to determine the winner of each category!

Wayzata 2040, Sailing Ahead

The City of Wayzata is proud and excited to announce the launch of Wayzata 2040, Sailing Ahead Project. This project is the first step of our city’s Comprehensive Plan, and builds on the recent Lake Effect project, creating clear city-wide priorities for the future.

Wayzata 2040, Sailing Ahead is a Community Visioning project that will give all residents and stakeholders the opportunity to have their voices heard. Join the conversation! We strongly urge you complete the Community Survey. The survey and additional project information can be found at


Officers will be working extra time in Long Lake over the weekend with the Corn Days events on Saturday and Sunday, including a Sunday parade. 
Officer Brandon Haapoja began his police officer career with Wayzata Police Department on Monday.  The hiring process for the Community Service Officer position that he vacated has begun.
A three vehicle crash at Wayzata Boulevard and Central Avenue on Thursday caused major traffic issues in the area.  An Allina medical supply vehicle (resembling an ambulance) was struck by a passenger car and rolled onto the hood of a third vehicle.  There were no injuries.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at 9:00 AM on Thursday, August 10, 2017. 

Wayzata Middle School Telecommunication Monopole

The new telecommunications tower was delivered on Monday, August 7 and erected on Tuesday, August 8.

2017 Street Improvement project

The project includes the reconstruction of Glenbrook Road, with new concrete curb and gutter, and the resurfacing of Hillside Drive and Huntington Avenue (next to the Edina Realty building).  Curb installation was completed this week on Glenbrook Road and, weather permitting, the first layer of pavement will be placed on Friday, August 11.  Work on Hillside Drive will begin the week of August 14.

County Road 112 Reconstruction – Long Lake

Hennepin County, along with their contractor, Eureka Construction, continues work on the reconstruction of County Road 112 (Old Highway 12) through Long Lake.  This construction area extends from Willow Drive to Wolf Pointe Trail.

2017 Pond Maintenance Project – Glenbrook Ponding Area

The project proposes to remove accumulated sediment from the storm water basins, known locally as the Glenbrook Ponds.  This project was delayed due to early melting in February and water conditions in the pond currently are not amenable to this type of work.  This work has been rescheduled until this coming winter.
