Wayzata 2040, Sailing Ahead

The City of Wayzata is proud and excited to announce the launch of Wayzata 2040, Sailing Ahead Project. This project is the first step of our city’s Comprehensive Plan, and builds on the recent Lake Effect project, creating clear city-wide priorities for the future.

Wayzata 2040, Sailing Ahead is a Community Visioning project that will give all residents and stakeholders the opportunity to have their voices heard. Join the conversation! We strongly urge you complete the Community Survey. The survey and additional project information can be found at

Enter Your Snapshots into Photo Contest

Only a few photos have been submitted so far for the Picture Wayzata Photography Contest. Don't miss your chance to win! Enter your photos by September 17!

  1. Candid Community Moments (people and activities around Wayzata)
  2. City Snapshots (streetscapes, businesses, or any location around the city)
  3. View from Up High (fire up the drone camera...we are looking for aerial shots to get a different perspective from up high of Wayzata)
  4. Wild Wayzata (wildlife, nature and animals)
The Picture Wayzata Photo Contest will be accepting entries at After the contest closes for entries, photos from all four categories will be complied into four albums for voting on by the public on the City's Facebook page to determine the winner of each category!

Submit your photos at then tell your friends to vote for your photo on Facebook! First place winner of each of the four categories will win a gift card to the Wayzata Bar & Grill (and of course bragging rights).
Officer Haapoja


Officer Brandon Haapoja was sworn in by City Manager Jeff Dahl at the Wayzata City Council meeting this week.
Five officers worked the Cambria Concert on Ferndale Road on Thursday.  Overtime was paid by the event organizer.

Public Works/Engineering

2017 Street Improvement project

The project includes the reconstruction of Glenbrook Road, with new concrete curb and gutter, and the resurfacing of Hillside Drive and Huntington Avenue (next to the Edina Realty building). Curb installation and the first layer of pavement were completed this week on Glenbrook Road. Additionally, Hillside Drive was milled and the first layer of pavement was placed. Final paving of both streets is anticipated to occur around August 24-25.

Staff has processed to following Special Event permits to be held in August and September.
(Staff is aware of a few more events that will require a permit but application has not yet been made)

Wayzata Middle School Telecommunication Monopole

The new telecommunications tower was delivered on Monday, August 7 and erected on Tuesday, August 8.  Perimeter fencing around the tower is anticipated to be installed in the next few weeks.

County Road 112 Reconstruction – Long Lake

Hennepin County, along with their contractor, Eureka Construction, continues work on the reconstruction of County Road 112 (Old Highway 12) through Long Lake.  This construction area extends from Willow Drive to Wolf Pointe Trail.  For more information on the project and to sign up to receive project updates, visit the project website at
