Planning & Building Inspections

A building permit was issued for the 1330 Wayzata Blvd E (the old KFC) site. Construction of the 4500 square foot commercial building was started on 9/27/17. Demolition permits were issued for two homes, 1607 and 1613 Holdridge Terrace. A building permit for a new single family home was issued for 143 Westwood Ln.

The interior finishes of the condo units at the Landing continue to be completed and the Great Lawn is still under construction. The Great Lawn is scheduled to be completed this fall. The street level retail spaces are beginning to fill in. Permits have been issued to divide some of the space into individual tenant spaces.
The new Benedicts restaurant has completed the interior framing and is moving forward with interior finishes.

Officers responded to the report of a male entering vehicles on Benton Avenue at 5:40 AM Thursday.  He was gone upon officer’s arrival.  Several vehicles in the area appeared to have been entered.  A crime alert was issued.
Officers responded to nine traffic crashes during the week.  An eastbound vehicle on Highway 12 (on the bypass) swerved to the shoulder to avoid a mattress in the roadway, lost control, and swerved across the traffic lane crashing into the center cement barrier.  This occurred with heavy westbound traffic.  The barrier likely prevented a far more serious cross-over crash.
The department is investigating four newly reported cases involving vulnerable adults this week.
