Wayzata 2040 Vision Workshops

You are invited to help shape the future of Wayzata by attending an upcoming Visioning Workshop. These workshops are part of the Wayzata 2040, Sailing Ahead - the public engagement piece of Wayzata's Comprehensive Plan update.

These workshops will explore the key trends and drivings impacting the Future of Wayzata, explore a range of plausible futures and allow you to join the conversation that will help shape the future of Wayzata. City residents and stakeholders are welcome to attend any workshop. When a group is noted, the conversation will be generally geared towards that group. Additional workshop dates will be added to this list and posted at www.wayzata.org/Wayzata2040.

Fall Leaf Pick-Up

The City of Wayzata Fall Leaf Pick-up is Monday, November 13th. Leaves must be in compostable bags and placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. The bags must state that they meet ASTM D6400 standards for compositing and they are “compostable.” Bags marked “biodegradable” or “degradable” do not meet the state law. Where to Take Your Yard Waste

It’s that time of year--time to clean up all the leaves that have fallen down in your yard! The City of Wayzata’s compost site is available for soft-bodied yard waste (such as grass and leaves). The compost site, located at Public Works, 299 Wayzata Boulevard West, is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday,
except for holidays. The compost site is also open weekends (Saturdays and Sundays)  the first two weekends in November from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The compost site is for the use of Wayzata residents only. Residents must obtain an annual beach parking and compost permit at City Hall.

Wayzata residents can take brush to the Plymouth Yard Waste Site with a driver’s license. For additional information, call Rebecca at Wayzata Public Works at 952-404-5363 or go to www.wayzata.org/compost.

Veterans Day Salute

On Veterans Day, November 11 at 10 a.m. in the Folkestone Auditorium (100 Promenade Ave.), the Lake Minnetonka Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will honor veterans through its sixth annual Veterans Day Salute. This year, the chapter will host a special indoor ceremony at Folkestone of Wayzata, where they will welcome two speakers, former Senator Rudy Boschwitz and U.S. Air Force Brigadier General Maureen Banavige, to share their inspiring words to veterans and guests. The event is open to the public.

Wayzata to the Wall

Wayzata To The Wall Please join the Wayzata Police Department for a benefit of Officer Bill Mathews on November 17, 2017 from 5-10 p.m. at the Wayzata American Legion. The cost is $20 at the door for a broasted chicken dinner. In May 2018, the Mathews family, along with members of the Wayzata Police Department, will travel to Washington D.C. for Police Week and the events surrounding National Peace Officer’s Memorial Day on May 15, 2018. At the event, Officer Mathews name will be added to the over 20,000 other officers on the National Peace Officers Memorial that have gone on before him in paying the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. All the
proceeds from the benefit event will help off-set the costs for the family and department traveling to Washington. Thank you for your continued support!
