Location & Features
Shaver Park is a great place to enjoy a summery date. Located on Grove Lane E. with Wayzata Beach and the marina nearby, this park offers grilling facilities (two grills), two picnic tables and a sand volleyball court. The park is a short walk to a walking bridge to access the beach house with public restrooms. Shaver Park is also close to Wayzata Beach and the Dakota Trail head.
Shaver Park was originally called Hoagland Woods when it was purchased by the city in 1922. Early in the 21st century, this park was renamed, honoring one of the early settlers in this area (1850s) and a descendent, the former Mayor Craig Shaver Sr. (1947-1948).

Trappers Cabin

A walking trail winds through the park's mature sugar maple trees and next to the 1800s Trapper's Cabin relocated Trapper's Cabin (the southwest corner of the park, Grove Lane and Ferndale Avenue South). In the fall of 2014 the cabin was moved to Shaver Park from its previously located off of Bushaway Road.
