Wayzata Compost Site

Hours & Location

The City of Wayzata’s compost site at Public Works, 299 Wayzata Boulevard West, is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for Holidays. The compost site also will be open weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) in April, May, October and the first 2 weekends in November from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents Only

The compost site is for the use of Wayzata residents only. Residents must display an annual permit on your vehicle. Residents must bring their driver’s license and license plate number to obtain an annual permit from City Hall. There is no fee for this permit. Absolutely no commercial contractors are permitted to use the site. For additional information, call Rebecca, Public Works Secretary at 952-404-5363.

Permitted Materials

Only soft-bodied yard waste (such as grass and leaves) is permitted. No brush, stumps, branches, plastic bags, paper bags, etc. will be allowed. Residents are required to unbag all materials.  Residents are also asked to take empty bags home for reuse or disposal.  

Free wood chips are available at the site for residents who have a permit. You must load your own wood chips. Absolutely no loading will be done by Public Works.

Brush Disposal

Brush may be taken to the Plymouth Yard Waste Site with a drivers license. Information on the location and hours of the Plymouth Yard Waste Site can be found on their website.
