Notice in Increase in Hennepin County Solid Waste Tax

Effective April 1, 2019, Hennepin County Solid Waste Tax will increase from nine percent to 15.5 percent. There are two parts that make up the Solid Waste Tax that Wayzata residents see on their monthly utility bill; the Minnesota Solid Waste Management Tax (9.75%) and the Hennepin County Solid Waste Management Fee (was 9% will be 15.5%). The revenue collected from this fee is used to fund environmental programs such as waste reduction, reuse, recycling, land conservation, and problem material management. Wayzata customers with 35 gallon level of service will see an increase in their monthly solid waste bill of $0.53; the 60 gallon level of service will increase $0.87; and the 90 gallon level of service will increase $1.22.
