March 16, 2020 COVID-19 Update


Community Members,

In accordance with Minnesota Department of Health guidance to help slow the spread of Coronavirus, the City of Wayzata will be making several operational changes to reduce the risk to our staff and the public. 

The Wayzata Emergency Management Team will continue to monitor the situation and will make any additional changes in accordance with MDH and CDC guidelines. 

Below is an update with regard to City Operations as of March 16th. 


Effective 3/17/2020 the following facilities will be closed to the public until further notice:

  • Fire Station
  • Public Works
  • Police Department
  • Wayzata DMV 
  • Wayzata Bar & Grill – Closed to Dine-in only. OPEN for pick-up orders.

At this time, all other city facilities - including City Hall and Wayzata Wine & Spirits - remain open. When possible, please limit visits to City facilities. We encourage everyone to conduct business by phone, email, or through the website


The following services have been temporarily suspended or postponed:

  • Administration - Meeting space at any City facility for use by non-City of Wayzata groups
  • Police Department – Civil fingerprinting, ride-alongs, Police Department tours, car seat checks (call local hospitals for assistance)
  • Community Development Department – Rental inspections, all building inspections for existing structures (except those that have a threat to health and safety)
  • Bar & Grill – Dine-in operations are suspended. Only pick-up orders will be fulfilled.

Programs, Events, and Meetings

The following public meetings are cancelled or postponed through March 31, 2020:

  • March 16 – Planning Commission Meeting
  • March 18 – Parks and Trails Board Meeting
  • March 26 – Housing and Redevelopment Authority Meeting
  • March 31 – Energy & Environment Committee Meeting

The following events are cancelled or postponed:

  • March 18 – State of the City Address – Postponed
  • April 18 – Panoway Kickoff Celebration - Cancelled

Additional cancellations may be added as they are determined.
