“Wayzata is following the recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health and from the USTA and keeping the tennis courts closed until further notice,” said Mike Kelly, City Engineer and Public Works Director. “The health and safety of park visitors and of employees is the City’s top priority. Rather than leaving the courts open and making them an inviting place for people to gather and to not follow the 6-foot social distancing guidelines, the City is erring on the side of safety and has locked the gates to the courts.” Kelly is hopeful the tennis courts will reopen with precautionary measures after the stay-at-home order is lifted. He will know more in the coming weeks. The City will announce when the courts are open through social media and through the City’s website.
