Steamboat Minnehaha 2020 Season Cancelled

This week, the museum of Lake Minnetonka Board of Directors announced the cancellation of the Steamboat Minnehaha’s 2020 boating season due to a loss of access to the only boat launch ramp on the lake that can accommodate the steamboat.

The Board is working to assess options for a permanent home by the end of the summer. The break this summer will allow for the completion of some long-needed maintenance. When the boat returns to service next year “it will be in the best condition it’s been in since it’s relaunch 25 years ago”. Vote

Administration

Direct Balloting Begins Tuesday Feb. 25

Eligible voters can place ballots for the presidential nomination primary directly into a ballot counter when voting in person starting February 25-March 2. Ballot counters will record votes as they are turned in, but will not report results until after polls close on Election Day, March 3.

Voters who cast their in-person absentee ballot before February 25 will place their ballot into a series of envelopes to be counted on or before Election Day, rather than placing their ballot directly into the ballot counter.

You may vote in person at City Hall during regular City Hall hours or during the extended voting hours on Saturday, Feb. 29 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and Monday, March 2 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. For more information regarding elections, visit www.wayzata.org/elections

2020 Precinct Caucuses

The 2020 precinct caucuses will be held on Tuesday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. at locations set by each party. Find your caucus location here. The presidential primary replaces the presidential straw poll that used to be held during the precinct caucus. Learn more information about the caucuses here.

2020 Construction Projects

Several projects are being planned in and around Wayzata, for 2020.  A summary of the larger activities follows:
  • Panoway – Lake Street (Broadway Ave to Ferndale Road) – This project will include the reconstruction of Lake Street E from Broadway Avenue to Ferndale Road.  The project will include the replacement of the roadway and sidewalks, the addition of a dedicated bike trail, the replacement of watermain from Broadway Ave to Manitoba Ave, and the construction of a park/plaza in the location of the existing municipal parking lot.

  • 2020 Sanitary Sewer Lining - The City of Wayzata is planning to perform maintenance on several sewer mains throughout the City. The maintenance includes the lining of the existing sewer main with a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) liner.  Sewer relining is a quick and economical process in lieu of replacing pipes by open excavation. This process prevents major traffic disruptions and health hazards from potential exposure to raw sewage.  The 2020 project proposes to line approximately 8,800 feet of sewer main in the following areas:  Harmony Circle, Rosswood Lane, Ridgeview Drive, Ridgeview Lane, Margaret Circle, and Shadyway Road, Barry Avenue North, and Gardner Street (east of Barry Ave).
  • 2020 Bituminous Seal Coat - A map of the streets proposed to be seal coated in 2020 can be found below.  Tree trimming may begin along these streets will continue in February.
