City of Wayzata Selects Contractors for Panoway on Wayzata Bay constructionThe Wayzata City Council recently voted to partner with eight main contractors to provide construction services for the first phase of Panoway on Wayzata Bay, a public/private initiative to restore, protect and enhance the city’s downtown lakefront. The first phase of construction begins mid-April and includes: - Reconstructing Lake Street from Barry Avenue to Broadway Avenue to be more pedestrian and bicycle friendly
- Creating a beautiful, multi-use Plaza Park near the lakefront, replacing the existing surface parking lot at Lake Street and Broadway Avenue
- Extending the Dakota Rail Regional Trail safely across Ferndale Road to Broadway Avenue
Stahl Construction was hired in fall 2019 to advise during the most recent round of bidding and provide project management services throughout construction, which has resulted in cost savings. They will oversee the work of the selected contractors.

2020 Construction ProjectsSeveral projects are being planned in and around Wayzata, for 2020. A summary of the larger activities follows: - Panoway – Lake Street (Broadway Ave to Ferndale Road) – This project will include the reconstruction of Lake Street E from Broadway Avenue to Ferndale Road. The project will include the replacement of the roadway and sidewalks, the addition of a dedicated bike trail, the replacement of watermain from Broadway Ave to Manitoba Ave, and the construction of a park/plaza in the location of the existing municipal parking lot.
- 2020 Sanitary Sewer Lining - The City of Wayzata is planning to perform maintenance on several sewer mains throughout the City. The maintenance includes the lining of the existing sewer main with a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) liner. Sewer relining is a quick and economical process in lieu of replacing pipes by open excavation. This process prevents major traffic disruptions and health hazards from potential exposure to raw sewage. The 2020 project proposes to line approximately 8,800 feet of sewer main in the following areas: Harmony Circle, Rosswood Lane, Ridgeview Drive, Ridgeview Lane, Margaret Circle, and Shadyway Road, Barry Avenue North, and Gardner Street (east of Barry Ave).
- 2020 Bituminous Seal Coat - A map of the streets proposed to be seal coated in 2020 can be found below.
