Panoway Construction UpdateWith a month of construction complete, the Lake Street improvement project, which includes phase one of Panoway on Wayzata Bay, is well underway.
Throughout April, the project team removed existing street signs, streetlights and pavement from Lake Street and began constructing underground utilities. The work will continue in May. Beginning May 5, Lake Street will be closed to motorists between Broadway Ave and Manitoba Ave. It is anticipated that segments of Lake Street will open to traffic in mid-June. With many businesses reducing services or closing because of COVID-19, construction crews have been able to accelerate their work. The project is scheduled to be complete by late summer.

- The May 4 Planning Commission meeting will be held virtually. Members of the public who wish to provide comments on any agenda items can find instructions at: www.wayzata.org/virtualpublicmeetings. More information about canceled meetings can be found at www.wayzata.org/coronavirus.
- The City of Wayzata recognizes that small businesses are struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic. Several state and federal programs have been established to assist. The best place to begin researching options is using this Summary Guide from MN DEED: MN Department of Employment and Economic Development. Their webpage summarizes opportunities for small business and how to find the right fit for your business. Another great resources is the Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce website. In the last week, Hennepin County approved roughly $2 million to establish the Hennepin County Small Business Relief (HC SBR) Fund. More information is available here: https://www.hennepin.us/economic-development/programs/Emergency-relief.

PoliceTheft from mailboxes on the riseIf you want your mail to reach its intended destination, its best to drop it off at the post office, police officials warn. Like many communities, Wayzata and Long Lake have been hit by a rash of thefts from personal mailboxes. Here are a few recommendations to safeguard your mail: - Do not place checks, packages or letters with your financial information in your mailbox at home.
- Have financial information or other sensitive mail delivered to a post office instead of your home.
- Request the USPS hold your mail when you’re away from home for extended periods of time.

Public WorksFire hydrant flushing continuesWater mains and fire hydrants will be flushed between Sunday, April 19 and Thursday, April 30, weather permitting. Utility crews will flush hydrants between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Flushing fire hydrants at night minimizes the inconvenience of discolored water issues that this process may cause for residents and businesses. Additionally, lighter traffic levels at night provides a safer environment for motorists and City crews. Fire hydrants are flushed to remove any particulate matter that may have built up in the water system over the year and to ensure all fire hydrants connected to the water system are operating properly for use by the Fire Department. Because the flushing process may temporarily cause your water to become discolored, residents are advised to be observant while washing clothes until after the flushing has been completed. If discolored water is present, run cold water faucets only until the water runs clear. A list and map of areas shown below is a general guideline as to where we will be flushing each evening. For more information, contact the Wayzata Public Works Department at 952-404-5363. - Sunday evening - April 26

2020 Construction Projects2020 Sanitary Sewer Lining The City of Wayzata is planning to perform maintenance on several sewer mains throughout the City. The maintenance includes the lining of the existing sewer main with a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) liner. Sewer relining is a quick and economical process in lieu of replacing pipes by open excavation. This process prevents major traffic disruptions and health hazards from potential exposure to raw sewage. The 2020 project proposes to line approximately 8,800 feet of sewer main in the following areas: Harmony Circle, Rosswood Lane, Ridgeview Dr, Ridgeview Lane, Margaret Circle, Shadyway Rd, Barry Ave N, and Gardner St (east of Barry Avenue). 2020 Bituminous Seal Coat A map of the streets proposed to be seal coated in 2020 can be found below. Tree trimming along these streets will continue through the spring months.
