Pavement work on Lake Street

Yesterday afternoon we reached a major milestone in the Lake Street construction project - a small portion of Lake Street opened to vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian traffic!

Westbound Lake Street between Broadway and Walker avenues opened Friday, June 19. Eastbound Lake Street and all portions of Lake Street from Walker Ave to Barry Ave are expected to remain closed through July.

Even though the road is partially opened, crews will continue working between Broadway and Walker avenues and on the remaining sections of Lake Street and the new Plaza Park.

Our goal throughout this project has been to minimize the impact on local businesses as much as possible. In partnership with our construction contractor Stahl Construction, we coordinated the work in phases so that we could shorten the duration of street closures.

Please continue to follow detours around the construction site. All businesses on Lake Street will continue to be accessible to pedestrians, and there is ample parking available on adjacent side streets and at the City's Mill Street parking ramp.
