Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Discovered in Wayzata Trees

This month, The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) confirmed an emerald ash borer (EAB) infestation in the City of Wayzata  A local tree contractor contacted the Wayzata Parks Department and reported an ash tree with bark cracks and S-shaped galleries, tell-tale signs of possible EAB infestation. The Parks Department contacted the MDA for confirmation. Winter is the perfect time to look for signs of emerald ash borer because the trees are still bare. There are several things residents should look for when checking for emerald ash borer.

Klapprich Park and Wayzata Beach Playground Area Reconstruction

The Park and Trail Board has been working to hire a consultant to assist with designing and constructing new playground equipment at Klapprich Park (planned for 2021), and for Wayzata Beach (planned for 2022). In the coming weeks, the Park and Trail Board will be evaluating proposals and selecting a consultant. There will be opportunity for public input during the design process. The existing playground equipment at both parks is over 25 years old, does not meet current accessibility requirements, and is at the end of its useful life.
