Wayzata PD Toys for Tots Drive

Donations of new unwrapped toys for kids or teens can be dropped off at City Hall and the Wayzata Police Department through December 15th.

Food Donation Bin at City Hall

There is a new Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners donation bin at City Hall! The Interfaith Outreach Food Shelf serves nearly 200 households per week. This includes in person, drive through and home delivery food distribution. 44% of the people served are children. Items needed include nonperishable food and personal hygiene products.

Recent Crime Alert: Vehicle Theft

Over the past month, Wayzata Police have taken multiple reports of auto thefts and thefts of items from autos.
In some of these instances of auto thefts the key fobs were left inside the vehicles. These thefts are occurring not only in Wayzata and Long Lake but across the entire metro area. These thefts are occurring both overnight and during daytime hours and are taking place in driveways, on-street parking, parking ramps and at businesses.

Applications Open for Warming House Attendant in Wayzata Due on Monday

The City of Wayzata is seeking Warming House Attendants for the 2021/2022 winter season! This position is responsible for welcoming and supervising patrons, the safety of the patrons and security of the warming house area, enforcing city rules, and general customer service at the winter outdoor facilities. Applicants should enjoy working outdoors and have excellent customer service skills.

Records Technician

This position will perform a variety of administrative and technical duties for the purpose of coordinating and maintaining accurate and up-to-date police reports, records, and data systems in compliance with legal mandates and prosecution requirements and will provide support to all members of the police department and other governmental agencies and the public.

Public Works Update
New Playground Installation Ends for the Season

The remaining work will be completed in the spring and then the new facility will be opened to the public.  The previous equipment is being donated to an organization called “Kids around the World”.  This organization works to establish playgrounds in poverty-stricken communities, restoring the opportunity for kids to enjoy the kind of play that is key to their physical, emotional, spiritual and cognitive development.  Photos of the installation progress, as well as a rendering of the new playground, can be found below.

The City’s Parks Department is currently working their way across the City, trimming trees in the public right-of-way.

Community Development Update

Section Foreman House Restoration

Stakeholders for the Section Foreman House restoration and reuse, including the City and resident Design Committee, are currently working with architecture firm Cushing Terrell to envision the future of the house as a lakefront learning center. The team is meeting multiple times per month to progress the goals and design of the project. Recent and upcoming meetings are discussing the intended “look and feel” of the site given its history and relation to the Panoway, Eco Park, and Boardwalk.

Proposals Under Review

Development Application for Cantissimo Senior Living

A development application has been submitted by the applicant(s) Pillar/Senior Lifestyle Living LLC to construct a new 40-unit, 2-story assisted living facility at 15419/15429 Wayzata Blvd and 1405 Holdridge Terrace. The applicant is requesting a Comprehensive Plan Amendment and a Planned Unit Development Concept Plan. The Planning Commission will be evaluating the proposal at their December 6 meeting.
