Will the Lakewalk Remain Open for the Winter Season?

The Panoway Lakewalk is planned to remain open during the winter season. The City will not be clearing snow from the path, allowing it to naturally pack down and create a winter walking trail. City staff will regularly monitor the condition of the Lakewalk, and if conditions are deemed unsafe, the Lakewalk will be closed to the public.

Council Approves $24 Million Budget 

On December 17, the City Council approved the Final 2025 Budget of $24M. The General Fund Budget was set at $9.2M, a 7.15% increase with a property tax levy increase of 7.75% over 2024. 

This year, three main budget goals emerged: 

  • Invest in public safety personnel
  • Implement Strategic Plan Initiatives
  • Minimize impact on residents

Levy Increase Drivers Include: 

  • Invest in IT and technology
  • Employee compensation
  • Adding Public Safety employees
