Navigate Wayzata - Project Update ( brought to you by City of Wayzata and Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce )

May 10, 2019

Wayzata and Superior Boulevard Intersection

The City’s contractor has completed construction of the retaining walls along the north side of Wayzata Boulevard, and is now reconstructing the curbs and pavement along the north side of Wayzata Boulevard, and along the southwest corner of the intersection, in front of Wells Fargo. Construction of the underground equipment for the new traffic control signal system has also begun. Once the underground equipment has been installed along the north side of Wayzata Boulevard, construction of permanent sidewalks will begin.

Traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction on Wayzata Boulevard and on Superior Boulevard, and lanes may be shifted to accommodate work. Lane restrictions will be ongoing for the duration of the project.
We encourage you to visit for the latest information about the project and suggested alternate routes.

If you have any questions concerning the project feel free to contact Jen Schumann, project engineer at (952) 404-5371 or

Central Avenue Bridge Over Highway 12

Work scheduled during May and early June is not anticipated to impact traffic on Central Avenue / County Road 101; however, the off ramp loop from westbound Highway 12 to southbound County Road 101 has been scheduled for 10:00 PM Sunday, May 12 to 5:00 AM on Monday, May 13 to prepare for additional traffic volume when the Central Avenue / County Road 101 bridge is closed.
The bridge is anticipated to be closed to traffic on Central Avenue / County Road 101 beginning on June 28, and will remain closed until late October. The existing bridge is currently scheduled to be removed between June 28 and July 1, which means Highway 12 will also be closed and traffic will be rerouted using the on- and off-ramps on each side of the bridge.

All on- and off-ramps to and from Highway 12 are scheduled to be closed from July 1 until August 12, when the ramps on the east side of the bridge are scheduled to re-open. The ramps on the west side of the bridge will remain closed until late October.
For more detailed information on the project, please visit the project webpage. We will continue to provide updates via the City website and social media as additional information becomes available.
