Navigate Wayzata - Project Update ( brought to you by City of Wayzata and Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce )

May 17, 2019

Wayzata and Superior Boulevard Intersection

Activities scheduled for the following week include: installation of street light foundations and underground electrical conduits; construction of the underground conduits and foundation for the traffic signal control cabinet; construction of segments of sidewalk where underground work is complete; and pavement removal and asphalt patching along Superior Boulevard.
A temporary signal system will be installed to manage traffic at the intersection of Wayzata and Superior boulevards while the new permanent signal system is being constructed. It is anticipated that a four-way stop will be required to make the transition to the temporary signal system. The four-way stop may be in place for up to two weeks, beginning after Memorial Day.
Traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction on Wayzata Boulevard and on Superior Boulevard, and lanes may be shifted to accommodate work. Lane restrictions will be ongoing for the duration of the project, and delays are expected.
We encourage you to visit for the latest information about the project and suggested alternate routes.

Central Avenue Bridge Over Highway 12

The ramp from westbound Highway 12 to Gleason Lake Road (County Road 15) will be closed from 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 to 5 a.m. Thursday, May 23. Crews will finish striping the ramp.

The bridge is anticipated to be closed to traffic on Central Avenue / County Road 101 beginning on June 28, and will remain closed until late October. The existing bridge is currently scheduled to be removed between June 28 and July 1, which means Highway 12 will also be closed and traffic will be rerouted using the on- and off-ramps on each side of the bridge.

All on- and off-ramps to and from Highway 12 are scheduled to be closed from July 1 until August 12, when the ramps on the east side of the bridge are scheduled to re-open. The ramps on the west side of the bridge will remain closed until late October.
For more detailed information on the project, please visit the project webpage. We will continue to provide updates via the City website and social media as additional information becomes available.
