Wayzata and Superior Boulevard Intersection

During the last week, the City’s contractor completed the demolition and removal of the old pavement throughout the project, as well as the old signal system poles and foundations. New curbs, sidewalks and concrete driveways have also been constructed in locations where the underground utility work is complete.
Wayzata Superior Blvds Intersection
Activities scheduled for the coming week include paving the first layer of pavement throughout the project; storm sewer work on the north side of Wayzata Boulevard near Walgreens; and construction of concrete medians. Construction of concrete sidewalks will continue as underground work is completed.

The intersection will continue to be controlled by the temporary traffic signal while the permanent traffic signal system and the roadway pavements and medians are being constructed. Traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane in each direction on Wayzata Boulevard and on Superior Boulevard, and lanes will shift to accommodate work. Lane restrictions will be ongoing for the duration of the project, and delays are expected.

We encourage you to visit NavigateWayzata.com for information about the project and suggested alternate routes. If you have any questions concerning the project feel free to contact Jen Schumann, project engineer at (952) 404-5371 or jschumann@wayzata.org.

Central Avenue Bridge Over Highway 12

The bridge is anticipated to be closed to traffic beginning on June 28, and will remain closed until late October. The existing bridge is currently scheduled to be removed between June 28 and July 1, which means Highway 12 will also be closed and traffic will be rerouted using the on- and off-ramps on each side of the bridge.

All on- and off-ramps to and from Highway 12 are scheduled to be closed from July 1 until August 12. The ramps on the east side of the bridge are scheduled to reopen August 12, with the ramps on the west side of the bridge remaining closed until late October.

For more detailed information on the project, please visit the project web page. We will continue to provide updates via the City website and social media as additional information becomes available.
