Navigate Wayzata - Project Update ( brought to you by City of Wayzata and Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce )

August 30, 2019

Wayzata Boulevard & Superior Boulevard Intersection

Paving of the final layer of pavement was scheduled to occur during the last week of August, but has been delayed because of an unanticipated excavation in the area by AT&T. AT&T is installing fiber optic lines, and during their installation they damaged other communication lines late last week, causing a significant outage of phone and internet service in the area. To repair the lines and restore service to the affected customers, an excavation was required. Contractors are currently working to repair the curb, sidewalk, and street pavement that was damaged as a result.
Upon completion of these activities, the City’s contractor will return to pave the final layer of pavement. This work is expected to occur during the first week of September. Minor restoration activities and clean-up work will follow, however these activities are not anticipated to disrupt traffic.

This project will include the reconstruction of Lake Street East from Broadway Avenue to Barry Avenue. The project will include the replacement of the roadway and sidewalks, the addition of a dedicated bike trail, the replacement of water main from Broadway Avenue to Manitoba Ave, and the construction of a park/plaza in the location of the existing municipal parking lot. The project was originally planned to begin in mid-September, but due to higher than expected bid prices, the project start has been delayed until early 2020.
